Individualized Services
SICIL offers services to aid and support individuals with disabilities in reaching goals for self-reliance.
Peer Counseling:
A person with a disability provides one-on-one or group support to others with disabilities. Role modeling and the sharing of coping or problem-solving methods are the tools used to help others wishing to become more self-sufficient.
Skills Training:
Assistance in learning or re-learning any aspect of living that a consumer believed will lessen his or her dependence on others.
Advocacy:
Action with or on behalf of a person with a disability to help him or her gain participation, rights, or benefits being denied due to disability.
Information and Referral:
A response to a request for information concerning disability or independent living and or a referral to resources outside the center when needed to fully address a consumer's need.
