Personal Assistant

The purpose of SICIL's Personal Assistant Program is to provide services which are critical to consumers who must have assistance in order to maintain their community living status.

Referral & Training:

SICIL recruits and pre-screens persons seeking employment as personal assistants (PAs). Basic Skill training is provided in both group and individual formats to any potential PA wishing to be referred for work through our program. Upon request, a list of Pas with skills and availability matching the needs of the consumer is provided to anyone wanting to hire a PA.

Consumer Training & Mediation

SICIL offers training to help consumers develop and maintain successful employer / employee relationships with Pas. Techniques in hiring, training, negotiating, supervising, and firing can be addressed. When necessary or requested, staff can mediate with a consumer and a PA of funding source to help assure that consumer needs are being met.

Reader and Other Assistant Referral

SICIL maintains a list of readers, note takes, chore workers, and other assistants to meet consumer's hiring needs. Consumers with special needs can request a search for assistants with special skills or qualifications.
